December 2009

Hi Everyone

Well Christmas will be here in a matter of days. I can’t believe how fast this whole year has flown by. I have had such a huge and busy year with so much happening … 2009 seems to have just disappeared.

This last few weeks since I spoke to you have been just as packed full of events and happenings as the whole rest of my year. I’ve been away as I told you last month, I had my birthday, I’ve been to a couple more 21st birthdays, I’ve been to another few awards dinners and I’ve swum in more swimming competitions. Haha they say there is no rest for the wicked. OH AND I GOT THE BEST SURPRISE … Read on …

My birthday was a bit sad and boring this year. I was actually on the plane flying over to Singapore to compete in the World Cup … so no special birthday meal, no one sang happy birthday to me and no presents. But Mum made up for it when I got home with a special home cooked meal and lots of pressies 🙂

I had an ok time in Singapore. I wasn’t tapered for my events, so I was expecting anything great AND my swim suit broke over there AGAIN. I will be so glad when we get back to normal suits, these special suits are nightmares … so anyway I got a third in the 100 fly. I wasn’t so happy with my 100, but everything didn’t go right on the day with that one, and if all doesn’t go as you need it to, you can’t get the results you are after …. But I had an awesome swim in the 200 fly. I won Gold. I did a PB and set a new Australian record. So that was really good …
and then, I was .35 off my PB in the 50 fly so I did ok I guess.

Then I flew straight from Singapore down to Canberra and we stayed at the AIS. The AIS/Speedo International meet was a 3 day meet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I didn’t expect great things and it was kind of weird having a mid week meet especially when I am in the middle of some very heavy training so ouch, it definitely hurt, but I did ok there too, winning the 100 & 200 fly and getting to the third round in a skins type format for the 50’s. That was ok. I don’t consider myself a sprinter … but I keep trying 🙂

Then, after the meet I went straight into a Swimming Australia relay camp where we are did the ground work for the 2012 Olympic Games relays. It seems a while away yet, but it will be here before we know it
and then I arrived back home in Queensland … YAY

I have just finished competing at the Qld State Championships. Saturday, I swam in the 4 x 100 medley relay and the 4 x 100 freestyle relay with my club mates. We did ok in them winning a silver in the medley and a bronze in the freestyle relay. Sunday I swam in the 100 fly. I won Gold in that one. Monday I had the 400 freestyle and didn’t do so well. I swam 11 seconds slower than my PB but I haven’t swum a 400 freestyle since the Age Championships in 2005 … maybe I should practice them a bit more. My last swim was the 200 fly. I finished with Silver from that race & then the States were done for me for 2009.

matthew2009Another exciting thing that has happened this month is my sister Rebeccah had another baby. ON HER BIRTHDAY. What a cool birthday present hey. She had a beautiful little boy and they called him Matthew. So now I have a nephew—Matthew and of course I still have my gorgeous niece Isabella to play with as well.

Well that’s it for this time and this year.

isabella2009Like I said Christmas will be here this week and I’ve been a good girl so hopefully Santa will give me some nice presents.

Season’s Greetings to you all and I wish you all the best for 2010

Happy holidays and STAY SAFE

Bye for now
